4th of July Fun!

Well, we've continued our tradition of attending the Fourth of July parade in Hillsboro. This year, we went with Allan's family, and their neighbors. Allan's younger brother's went down the night before, and "reserved" us a spot with twine and markers. That's right folks, we have officially become those kinds of parade goers. But it was nice to finally be able to get a spot where Ethan would be able to actually see the floats, and participate in the parade, rather than watching from behind a large number of viewers.

As we arrived, Ethan set up his awesome folding "Cars" chair, and waited patiently for the festivities to start.












We weren't very prepared, so thankfully little Sarah was there (one of our flower girls from our wedding) and brought some extra candy bags to be able to share with Ethan. As the parade started, and the candy started flying, Ethan wasn't quite sure what to do. Sarah would quickly pounce on everything that flew in front of them. Though she was kind enough to share her stash with Ethan when she realized she was taking all the candy! It was funny to watch Ethan though, because he would have his eye set on a piece of candy, get up to go get it, and before he knew it, Sarah swiped it out from under his reach. He would look back at us, confused, because he could swear that candy was just there. It was very fun. Eventually though, he did get the hang of it, and before you knew it, he was out there getting candy with the best of them.

Some of Ethan's favorite keepsakes from the parade were a model airplane he got from the Hobby Shop, a orange Frisbee, the the little hand held flag he got close to the beginning, and waved throughout the whole parade. Though he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, he did eat a few of the suckers that he was able to get before Sarah.



It was a very fun time that we had. We look forward to keeping it up in the future. I think as Maddie gets older, she'll really like it too! It's amazing to me how many things there are that go on in this local area, that you just don't realize until parades.
